Kat’s First Camp Delta Experience

This was my first time experiencing Camp Delta. Going into Camp Delta, I had no idea what to expect out of the four days I would be staying there. All I ever heard about Camp Delta was that it was super fun and a life changing experience. When I first arrived, I was very anxious and nervous because I knew a couple of people, but I was basically surrounded by a sea of strangers. I was placed into the Starfox family, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better family. We quickly bonded over the team games, and it was really easy to talk to my family. They were always motivating me when I was down, and they made me want to push myself to be the best version of myself. It’s usually hard for me to open up, but my family made it a safe place for me to talk about me and my personal struggles. My favorite activity would have to be Reach for the Stars. It tested both my mental and physical abilities. This activity made me realize that I can’t always depend on myself to achieve my goals and dreams in life, but I also need to depend on the people around me. I was happy to see everyone in my family and all the other families achieve their goals and dreams. I would like to thank my counselors Andrew and Kim for giving me the best advice that I will carry on with me for the rest of my life and never giving up on us during the activities. To my family, I want to thank you for all you have done for me. I don’t think I have smiled, laughed, or cried harder when I was with y’all for those four days. I can’t thank the CDX staff enough for the amazing and unforgettable experience that they have given me. The sore throat and lack of sleep were definitely worth it since I met the nicest people ever and made lifetime friendships. Everyone welcomed you with open arms, and they never judged you once. I loved the safe environment of Camp Delta, where you’re able to express and be yourself. I’m really going to miss the amazing food from the Cuisine Team, bonding with my family and new friends, raving until 5am, and more.

On the last day, I cried enough tears to fill the Pacific Ocean. I didn’t want to leave the place I called home, and I definitely didn’t want to leave the people, who made it home. If you are indecisive about going to Camp Delta, don’t think about it! JUST GO! Camp Delta has truly changed my life for the better, and it made me realize things about myself that I never knew. I’m forever indebted to Camp Delta.
